The Vocabulary of Modern Racing Games: A Semantic Field Theory Approach

Abstract

The Semantic Field Theory is one of the modern theories that has addressed lexical approaches, meanings, and their organization, making it one of the most significant transformative theories in the field of modern semantics. This study aimed to examine the recent vocabulary of racing games through the study of Semantic Field Theory. The importance of this study stems from the systematic nature of socio-linguistic interaction, where language opens up to various specialized societal categories.

The study relied on the descriptive method, which describes the phenomenon as it is—not as it ought to be—explaining its features through detailed research components within an appropriate structural framework. The description begins with the language itself and leads to specific linguistic findings.

The study reached several important conclusions, including:

1. Within the semantic fields, the relationships of synonymy, inclusion, and incompatibility were observed.


2. The relationships of antonymy and meronymy (part-whole) were absent from the semantic fields.
