The European model of lifelong learning competencies and the possibility of benefiting from it in the development of literacy and adult education programs in the Sultanate of Oman

Abstract
The current study aimed to identify The European model of lifelong learning competencies and the possibility of benefiting from it in the development of literacy and adult education programs in the Sultanate of Oman, The study used the descriptive method, and the analysis of documents was used in collecting data and information. The results of the study concluded that the European model included eight competencies for lifelong learning, namely: Literacy competence, Multilingual competence, Mathematical competence and competence in science, technology, engineering, Digital competence, Personal, social and learning to learn competence, Citizenship competence, Entrepreneurship competence and Cultural awareness and expression competence. The study recommended increasing the interest of literacy eradication and adult education programs in the Sultanate of Oman in the activities of the Arabic language, and holding competitions between students in it to speak Fusha at the level of the directorates and the Sultanate. The study plan also pays attention to science and digital technology and citizenship values.
