The Reality of E-Learning in the Governmental Schools during COVID-19. West Gaza Schools as a Model

Abstract

The spread of COVID19 all over the world leads to a closure to all the educational institutions: schools and universities. This called to the adoption of E-learning. This study aimed to identify the reality of E-learning in the governmental schools: West Gaza Schools as a model. To reach to the study results, an electronic questionnaire was designed to survey the points of view of (78) coordinators of the virtual classrooms in (78) school in West Gaza directorate in relation to teachers’ acceptance to create virtual classrooms on Google classroom and the students’ joining of those classrooms. The study revealed that West Gaza directorate was at the top of directorates regarding the number of the virtual classrooms created. They were about (2506). Also, it is found that (90.8%) of teachers in West Gaza schools created their virtual classrooms and about (66.6%) of students joined these classrooms in roughly a month. This indicates that West Gaza Directorate succeeded in creating its virtual classrooms in a short time. Based on the results, the researcher recommended the ministry of education to form a committee of supervisors and teachers to prepare digital content that can be used with students during E-learning. Moreover, training teachers on 21^st technological skills in education. Finally, assigning supervisors to found a semester plan for E-learning.
