Abstract

Our research helps to clarify the subjective and objective determinants of the representations of high school students qualifying between the two limits of the equation concerning education and international emigration in the city of Souk Sebt. The problem of our research concerns the following question: “what are the determinants of the representations of high school students between the two limits of the education equation and international emigration: the case of the city of Souk Sebt”. To analyze and address the issue of our subject, we conducted a field survey in which we adopted qualitative and quantitative techniques. It became clear to us that the spread of the phenomenon of international emigration in the family and social environment played a primordial role in the construction of the representation of high school students, and affected their behavior. Also, demographic, socio-cultural and economic determinants are fundamental factors which crystallize the beliefs and representations of high school students on the reality of education in Morocco and its prospects. These determinants encourage emigration abroad. We have also noted the contribution of the media to shaping students' conceptions and motivating them to practice international emigration.

The results revealed that 41.9% of the sample members had already failed in their academic career, and this was due to the difficulty of the programs and the length of academic courses, in addition to family problems and lack of concentration and motivation. It was also shown that 47.16% of the sample expressed their willingness to abandon their studies due to the lack of employment opportunities for graduates and difficult financial conditions, in addition to thinking about the project of 'immigration. The importance of establishing a true partnership between parents and the school to encourage and motivate children to attend education, then raise the level of their academic results, and also raise their awareness of the dangers of illegal emigration.
