Arts Education in Moroccan Primary Education: Between the Expected Curriculum and the Actual Curriculum
Main Article Content
Abstract
This work is part of the studies that address the evaluation of the curriculum of art education in primary school in Morocco. It starts with a central problematic question about gap between official educational written guidelines and what is actually practiced in the classrooms. It also proposes some developmental pedagogical alternatives for managing the components and activities of these subjects.
The outcomes of the compound analytical study of the updated primary education curriculum and the experimental research that we have conducted over the years and which we have grouped into six axes, have shown that there is a difference between what the art curriculum aspires to and what is practiced in the classroom. This supports the hypotheses adopted in the research and calls for taking the appropriate decisions to correct the current situation.
Based on this, we have formulated some proposals that help to build a new vision for managing the art education subjects in primary education in Morocco. These proposals highlight the challenges that need to be faced, especially in the field of basic and continuing education, and propose pedagogical and didactic alternatives that take into account the integration and coherence of the components of this subject.
