Abstract

The phenomenon of urbanization at the present time is considered one of the important phenomena, and it is almost a frequent feature in all countries of the world, although it is more prominent and clearer in developing countries. The concept of urbanization refers to the transition from rural life or living in the countryside to urban life. We note that rural societies have begun to experience, at the present time, a state of prevalence of urban manifestations on a large scale. Technology, media, and the change of urban characteristics in the countryside top the list of reasons behind the prevalence of the phenomenon of urbanization in the countryside and reduce the differences between the countryside and the city. Given the importance of the phenomenon of urbanization in the rural community, this research sheds light on it by understanding Urbanization in the Iraqi countryside, knowing its dimensions and the most important results that lead to it, and revealing the most important problems that accompany the process of urbanization in the Iraqi countryside. The research also focused on reviewing the most important features of urbanization in the countryside. In order to clarify the concept of urbanization properly and provide the population with more information about urbanization, especially in rural areas, to avoid the population falling into the negative concept that results in urbanization problems. The research also concluded that despite the efforts made to develop and urbanize the Iraqi countryside, it still suffers from low basic services in terms of health, education services, and infrastructure
