Abstract

This study discussed Russia's foreign policy towards the Palestinian issue, and Russia's role in the peace process. It gave a historical overview of Russia's relationship with Palestine, starting from the Soviet era to the present time. The study examined the development of Russia's policies towards Palestine and how they were influenced by various factors, including geopolitical considerations, economic interests, and ideological factors. The study analyzed Russia's current position on the Palestinian issue as an active force in the international community, including its position on key issues such as the status of Jerusalem, the right of return, and the establishment of a Palestinian state. The study revealed the motives behind Russia's policies towards the Palestinian issue, including its desire to maintain its influence in the Middle East, and its commitment to promoting peace in the region due to its proximity to the southern borders, which represent Russia's soft flank. The paper also discussed the challenges faced by Russia in its efforts to play a greater role in the Palestinian issue. The discussion focused on the prospects of future cooperation between Russia and Palestine and the possibility of Russia playing a greater role in the peace process. In general, the study provided a comprehensive analysis of Russia's policies towards the Palestinian issue and its impact on the Middle East peace process.
