Abstract
This study aimed to identify the reality of women's political participation in Iran and the extent of Iranian women's political participation in government institutions, especially in the presidential elections and the Shura Council. This study analyzes the obstacles and challenges faced by Iranian women and negatively affected their political participation.
The researcher used the descriptive approach, and the study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: Early changes occurred in favor of women during the reign of the Shah. This is due to Iran's integration into global capitalism and the modernization processes that Iranian society was exposed to, but these processes were heterogeneous and the positive developments that occurred eroded due to government policies. contrasting. Iranian women played an important role in the success of the Islamic Revolution in 1997. The dominance of conservative discourse in the current political climate in Iran plays an important role in opposing the presence of women in the political sphere.
