The Pleasure of the Narratives: Analytical Approach
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study introduces a critical approach in order to search for sources of enjoyment in reading narrative works, with the presence of applied models from the Arabic novel.
The importance of the study lies in what this approach includes in discussing and analyzing the sources of enjoyment in reading the narrative, its causes, and acting upon it.
All previous studies that dealt with the enjoyment of narrative reading either rely on theory alone without applicability, or this issue crowds out other topics related to the theory of the novel and forms of reception.
The problematic of this critical approach can be identified in its search for answers to the following questions: Where does the source of enjoyment come from in reading the narrative? Why does the reader get a feeling of enjoyment while reading? What distinguishes narrative reading from other readings? Does the feeling of enjoyment that the writer has while writing the story guarantee the enjoyment of his/her reader? What is the role of artistic beauty in achieving enjoyment?
This critical approach will benefit from the data of the analytical approach, which is able to explain and analyze the sources of enjoyment in reading the narrative.
