Abstract
Abstract: The expression of time varies in the diversity of languages, so the researcher chose to have this research entitled: (The temporal significance of the past tense in Surat Maryam), and its topic is to study the temporal significance of the past tense in the light of the context of the Qur’anic verses in Surat Maryam according to the theory of time through the context that it set Dr. Muhammad Rajab Al-Wazir - Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University - in his published book entitled (Linguistic context and the study of time in the Arabic language), which is a linguistic and descriptive contextual study; It aims to show the temporal richness that exceeds the well-known triple division (past, present and future) of the formulas and structures found in Surat Maryam. The linguistic context in which it appears, regardless of its attribution to nouns or pronouns, or its construction of the known or the passive.
