Political Trust and University Students' Participation: A Field Study

Abstract
This study examines the relationship between political trust and political participation among Moroccan university students, a group regarded as pivotal to any democratic or developmental project. Employing a descriptive-analytical framework and a quantitative survey method, data were collected through questionnaires administered to a sample of students across Moroccan universities.
The findings reveal that political trust among university students is moderate, with greater confidence expressed in non-elected institutions compared to elected bodies. Similarly, levels of political participation are moderate, although students show a marked preference for non-traditional forms of engagement. The analysis further indicates that political trust exerts a positive yet moderate influence on political participation overall. Moreover, several personal and socio-political variables were found to significantly shape both trust and participation.
