Criticism, renewal, and a revision of the interpretation approach of some pioneers of Al-Manar school: Sheikh Muhammad Abdo as a model

Abstract

The efforts of Al-Manar School pioneers, led by the efforts of Sheikh Muhammad Abdo, who had a special vision regarding dealing with the curricula of Islamic heritage, in terms of investing them in order to revive the renaissance of the nation, and to rescue it from the stalemate and decadence in which it lives. The Sheikh had a critical innovative vision for many of the Islamic heritage curricula, especially in the field of interpretation, in which he had a unique innovative critical vision. The research aims to tackle the features of criticism, renewal and the revision, and the motives of each of them according to Sheikh Muhammad Abduh, in the field of interpretation. The descriptive analytical method was the mainstay in approaching the elements of this research. The research reached a several results like: The innovative critical vision of the science of interpretation of Sheikh Muhammad Abdo, may God have mercy on him, resulted in a new approach in the science of interpretation in the modern era, an approach that is characterized by engaging with the purposes of the Quran, drawing inspiration from Sunni jurisprudence from it, and reviewing many of the foundations of interpretation for the ancients, which makes this science come alive with the problems of this nation.
