Abstract

The research addresses the challenges facing Libyan national security due to internal and external pressures that have intensified since the fall of the Gaddafi regime. It highlights those foreign interventions, the proliferation of armed militias, political divisions, and the absence of effective national institutions have contributed to destabilizing the country's political and security situation. Additionally, the proliferation of weapons and tribal and regional conflicts have further complicated the security landscape, making it difficult to achieve national reconciliation or to build security and military institutions capable of enforcing order.

The objective of this research is to analyze the causes and consequences of the deterioration of Libyan national security, focusing on security challenges such as the proliferation of militias, the lack of national reconciliation, and delays in rebuilding regular forces. The research also examines the impact of these challenges on Libya's stability and proposes solutions to strengthen security, including disarmament, the integration of militias into official institutions, and the construction of strong national institutions capable of upholding the rule of law.

The research concludes that resolving these challenges requires a comprehensive strategy that includes political reforms, strengthening the rule of law, and rebuilding security and military institutions. It also emphasizes the importance of national reconciliation and dialogue among various parties to ensure Libya's stability and to prevent foreign interference that threatens its sovereignty.
