The Impact of Belief on Considering the Principles and Justifying the Aspects: Al- Muqtasid fi Sharh Al- Idah by Abd Al-Qahir Al- Jurjani as a Modelˆ

Abstract

This article aimed to address the issue of grammatical perspective. This is done by observing some manifestations of the doctrinal starting point in Al-Jurjani’s explanation of Abu Ali Al-Farisi’s Al-Idah and clarifying the extent to which Al-Jurjani’s grammatical perspective has been influenced by this starting point. We examine how he relies on it in considering and preserving grammatical principles, as well as in strengthening justifications and enhancing their reliability and acceptability. This issue can be articulated and formulated in the following question.

To solve this problem, we have adopted a special integrative approach based on three procedural methods that complement each other: induction, deduction, and analysis. These methods are necessary due to the nature of the subject, as identifying doctrinal manifestations and clarifying their implications for guidance first requires an inductive step to analyze Al-Jurjani’s words in both their explicit and implicit aspects. Secondly, an analytical approach is needed to establish the existence of a relationship between doctrine and the grammatical principles that Al-Jurjani adheres to or opposes, supported by grammatical reasoning.
