Characters, Space, and the Islamic Novel: "The Widows' Camp" as a Model

Abstract

Paying attention to the content of the narrative text is inevitable because it parallels the form or what is called in our critical heritage (by word), and the content is everything that the artwork includes from thought, morals, religion, and other topics of historical interest, or the National. Accordingly, the study aims to identify the content of the complementary relationship between the two elements of characters and space in the narrative structure of the nature of the narration adopted by the writer “Maral Maarouf” within the novel, trying to embody its Afghan cause based on a set of ideas and perceptions governed by a literary intellectual background, and imbued with Islamic religious principles and values, made the fictional literature an artistic and expressive Islamic literature.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the structural approach due to the nature of the topic. The researcher reached a set of results, the most important of which are: The novel is based on a set of relationships that connect the characters to space (integration, influence ...). The Islamicness of the novel is reflected in the writer’s cognitive and intellectual background, as she is the one who directs the course of the narration according to its goals. The writer” Maral Maarouf” used the novel as a way to defend the Afghan cause.

The study concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which are: Re-consideration of such novels that address issues of realistic human dimensions. Encouraging the role of feminist literary writing in contributing to the field of solid scientific research. Giving great importance to literary studies based on analysis to build data.
