The Didactic of the Reading Text in Arabic Language: Towards a Systemic Approach to Reading Texts in the Secondary Education

Abstract

The topic of this research is centred on proposing a coordinated approach to teaching reading texts in the two streams of secondary and preparatory education in order to enable learners in these two streams to acquire an alternative methodology to the so-called ‘systematic reading’, which over time turned out to be consumed, exhausted, and, due to its repetition, became an automatic methodology that subjects the reading text to its logic, concepts, and tools, instead of being subject to the logic of reading texts as a mere procedural tool, in addition to being limited to the qualitative characteristics of texts, according to arbitrary divisions, which are sometimes not accepted by either the logic of the Arabic text or its cultural specificity, neglecting or oblivious to a basic principle of the text, namely that it is an open, multifaceted, multiple, and interdisciplinary mode These aspects are among the most important aspects that should be paid attention to in the teaching of texts in the Arabic language, and what learners should be able to acquire in their approach to any topic that they try to understand and realise in its comprehensiveness, and that the methodological skills that they master to employ even in their academic path.
