Abstract

The narrative and descriptive elements in the novel "More Than Stairs" crystallize through the structures of time, place, and events. The author, Youssef Al-Muhaimeed, takes care to highlight the narrative description elements by linking events with time and place, emphasizing the characters' relationship in highlighting the main event the lost love story that led the novel's protagonists to travel to America for a study mission.

The state of narrative description is manifested through the presentation of the event between the retrospective framework to present the main event, which is the dramatic story of the lost love of the protagonist. This story is then centered around the development of events related to travel and the desire to study medicine. Subsequent subplots are scattered throughout the novel, and the narrative description plays a significant role in connecting them with the characters.

Narrative description of the characters played a prominent role in connecting the events in a sequential format with the main event. The character "Abdulilah," who appeared only briefly, was the main reason for the course of events. As for the stairs, they served as the meeting place, hence the novel's title, "More Than Stairs."
