Abstract

The research is interested in studying the demographic reality of rural women in Nasiriya district for the year 2021, as rural women have an active role in society in general and in rural society in particular. So serious steps must be taken to achieve their equality with men as a primary partner with him in all fields and to eliminate all forms of discrimination as stipulated by international conventions. The research relies on the results of the field study that included rural women aged 12 years and over, which showed a spatial variation in the demographic characteristics of rural women at the level of administrative units. The research reached several results, the most important of which are: The majority of rural women included in the study are married, accounting for 47.8% of the total marital status in the study area. The high rate of early marriage is found, in addition to the high fertility rate of rural women, which amounted to 4.2 children women.
