Ontology of Hermeneutic Interpretation: Questions in Light of the Conflict Between Ideology and Utopia

Abstract

This studyanalysis conflict of interpretations from the perspective of hermeneutics, according to an approach that focuses on exploring the possible relationships between hermeneutic interpretation, ideology, and utopia. Ideology and utopia always seek to shape reality through the mechanism of interpretation, but this can only be achieved by criticizing the discourse of the Other and negating its existence, which imposes the establishment of a struggle over interpretation. This struggle occurs between two social classes regarding the management of social interests and benefits. It is noteworthy that ideology clings to the past and the present, reproducing them, compared to utopia, which contemplates them from a future-oriented perspective with a renewed vision.The problem of this study is defined by observing the nature of the functioning of hermeneutical interpretation at the levels of ideology and utopia, then revealing how the conflict between ideological interpretation and utopian interpretation is managed, and considering the possibility of transforming their conflict into a productive cooperation that drives society towards security and social prosperity. We have assumed that the conflict of interpretations in a way that negates the acceptance of the other and recognition of them is a conflict based on safeguarding the survival of social benefits and interests, and it will not be an epistemological issue that would lead us to propose the redefinition of interpretive standards within culture, for culture originally enacts the interpretive standards that preserve the interests of society and eliminate the possibility of the other's benefit, whether from within the society or from outside it. Our study is based on a methodology in which content analysis is integrated with deduction. We also aim to observe the ontology of hermeneutic interpretation from the perspective of the problem of conflicting interpretations, while examining what justifies the existence of competing interpretations that exchange criticism in an attempt to nullify the other's discourse. Moreover, we try to explore the prospects of transforming the conflict of interpretations into fruitful cooperation and communication that can drive society towards social unity, leaving no room for disagreement, exclusion, or self-centeredness.
