APC and Author Fees Policy

Ibn Khaldoun Journal for Studies and Researches is committed to full transparency and clarity regarding all fees and charges associated with manuscript submission, peer review, and publication.

This policy specifies all fees that authors may incur, including manuscript submission, peer review, publication, additional page charges, additional services, and the journal’s waiver policy.

Publication fees and waiver requests have no influence whatsoever on peer review, editorial decisions, manuscript acceptance, or rejection. Editorial decisions are based solely on the scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, and relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s scope.

The journal does not charge authors any fee for submitting a manuscript to the journal.

No payment is required to initiate the initial editorial screening or peer-review process.

The journal does not charge a separate fee for the peer-review process.

Peer Review Fee: USD 0

All manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are subject to the journal’s Double-Blind Peer Review process. Payment of any fee is not a condition for initiating or conducting peer review.


4. Article Processing Charge

Article Processing Charge (APC)

The journal charges an Article Processing Charge only for works accepted for publication. The applicable fee depends on the type of scholarly work, the author category, and the number of pages.

The basic publication fee ranges from:

USD 60–100.

Additional page charges or service fees may apply as specified in this policy.

No Article Processing Charge is imposed on rejected manuscripts.

Publication Costs for 2026

Ibn Khaldoun Journal for Studies and Researches applies the following publication fees and charges to accepted works during 2026. Fees are determined according to the type of scholarly work, the author category, the number of pages, and any additional services requested or applicable.


First: Original Research Articles

These fees apply to research articles derived from theses and dissertations submitted from within and outside the Arab world.


Fourth: Theses and Dissertations

The following fees apply to the publication of theses and dissertations:

6. Additional Services and Charges

Additional Services and Charges

Additional fees may apply to services requested by the author or required for processing the work for publication, as follows:

6.1 Similarity Checking

The first similarity check is provided at no additional charge.

First Similarity Check: USD 0

If the author requests an additional similarity check after the first one, the following fee applies:

USD 5 per additional check.

Where applicable, these charges are added to the publication fees.

6.2 Abstract Translation

The journal provides abstract translation into English or Arabic for:

USD 5 per abstract.

The translation fee is added to the publication fee when this service is requested.

6.3 Language Proofreading

The journal provides language proofreading services at:

USD 1 per page.

The proofreading fee is added to the publication fee when the service is applicable or requested.


7. What Does the Publication Fee Cover?

The Article Processing Charge may cover the following services, depending on the type of work and available services:

  • Processing the manuscript after acceptance.
  • Preparing the manuscript for online publication.
  • Publishing the manuscript on the journal’s platform.
  • Making the article available through Open Access.
  • Registering a DOI for the article.
  • Depositing article metadata with Crossref.
  • Making article metadata available to relevant indexing and discovery services.
  • Digital archiving and preservation through the journal’s approved archiving systems.

The journal does not charge a separate fee for DOI registration.


8. Additional Page Charges

Additional page charges are calculated according to the type of scholarly work, as specified in the 2026 Publication Costs table.

Additional charges apply only when the manuscript exceeds the maximum page limit specified for its category.

Authors will be informed of the final amount payable before publication procedures are completed.


9. Withdrawal Fee

Withdrawal Fee

The journal does not charge authors a fee for withdrawing a manuscript.

Withdrawal Fee: USD 0

However, authors are expected not to request withdrawal without a legitimate reason, particularly after peer review has commenced or substantial editorial and technical resources have been devoted to processing the manuscript.

Withdrawal requests must be submitted formally through the journal’s official communication channels.


10. Publication Fee Waiver

Waiver Policy

Ibn Khaldoun Journal for Studies and Researches recognizes that some researchers may face financial difficulties or may not have sufficient institutional or research funding to cover publication charges.

Therefore, the journal allows authors to request a full or partial waiver of the Article Processing Charge (APC) where justified.

Possible circumstances for consideration include:

  • Authors from low-income countries.
  • Authors from lower-middle-income countries.
  • Authors facing exceptional financial circumstances.
  • Authors without institutional or research funding for publication.

Waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.


11. Waiver Request Procedure

Waiver requests should be submitted before the publication invoice is issued or as soon as possible after manuscript acceptance.

The request should preferably include:

  • Author’s name.
  • Manuscript title.
  • Author’s institutional affiliation.
  • Country.
  • Reason for the waiver request.
  • Whether the research has received grant or institutional funding.
  • Requested type of waiver: full or partial.

Waiver requests are treated confidentially and have no influence on editorial decisions or peer-review outcomes.


12. Editorial Independence

The journal confirms that publication fees, waiver requests, or an author’s ability to pay do not influence the peer-review process or editorial decisions in any way.

An author’s ability to pay publication fees is not considered when making decisions regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection.

Editorial decisions are based on:

  • Scholarly originality.
  • Research significance.
  • Methodological soundness.
  • Quality of analysis.
  • Validity of findings.
  • Quality of scholarly presentation.
  • Relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Peer-review outcomes.

The journal does not impose any fees or charges on authors other than those explicitly stated in this policy.

If any new fee is introduced or existing fees are modified, the journal will update this policy and clearly announce the change on its official website before applying it.


14. Sources of Revenue

Sources of Revenue

The publishing activities of Ibn Khaldoun Journal for Studies and Researches are funded through publication and Article Processing Charges for accepted works, in addition to institutional resources and support provided by Ibn Al-Arabi Center for Culture and Publishing, the journal’s publisher, and any other legitimate sources of funding disclosed as appropriate.

Editorial decisions are not influenced by revenue levels or by authors’ ability to pay publication fees.

Publication fees are stated in United States Dollars (USD).

Authors will be informed of the applicable fee and payment method after acceptance and before publication procedures are completed.

Authors must not make any payment to an individual or entity other than the official payment channels authorized by the journal.

Authors may be responsible for any bank charges or transaction fees imposed by banks or payment services used to complete a payment.

Where applicable, any legally required taxes or governmental charges may be borne by the party responsible for them under the applicable laws and regulations.

The fees and charges stated in this policy apply to works processed for publication during the period:

January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026.

The journal reserves the right to review its publication fees for subsequent years. Any changes will be announced on the journal’s official website before they take effect.
