The Crisis of Palestinian Political Reason in Light of the Crisis of Arab Reason: A Study in the Thought of Muhammad Abid al-Jabiri and the Proposed Options for Transcending the Current Predicament

Abstract

The study presented an intellectual approach to analyzing the Palestinian political predicament in light of the faltering of both the resistance and settlement projects, drawing on the theses of Muhammad Abid al-Jabiri regarding the crisis of Arab reason. It examined the reflection of this crisis on the Palestinian arena within the context of war, division, and the declining status of the cause. The study sought to answer a central question about the nature of the crisis: is it a result of poor political performance or a structural crisis in Palestinian political reason? It also discussed the impact of the ongoing geographical and political division and its repercussions on national action. In contrast, it proposed a set of practical options and alternatives for reconstructing the political field and transcending the current predicament, thereby answering the question of "what is to be done?" under the current complex circumstances. The study concluded that overcoming the current crisis requires a radical transition from managing division to building national unity, and from temporary solutions to an integrated national project that revives political institutions, strengthens the resilience of Palestinian society, and repositions the Palestinian cause within its regional and international context in a manner consistent with the rights and historical aspirations of the Palestinian people.
