Narratives from Criticism to Cultural Paradigm: Cultural Narratives as a Model

Abstract

The description forms the pillar of structural narratives, both cognitive and analytical. Interpretation is the starting point for cultural perspectives presented by discourse analysis, cultural, feminist and gender studies, negro studies and post-colonial theory. The narrative provides an extended context of time and space that calls for all approaches, perspectives and formats. At the center of the meeting between the novel, structural narratives and cultural criticism, this study proposes a critical reading in the study of "cultural narratives, from identity politics to politics of difference" by the critic Muhammad Bouazza. The study first seeks to uncover the entries of the critical text and the critics' knowledge and methodology stakes in his study of the Arabic novels. Second, it aims to clarify the analytical potential of investing cultural perspectives in the structural approach to narrative. The study reached two conclusions. The first is that the analytical approach to the book "Cultural Narratives" did not support what the theoretical framework had built in its epistemological stake and in its critical and methodological proposals. As for the second result, it is that the texts chosen for analytical approaches did not stray from the definition of the academically approved "text" and the "structural" authority, far from the open horizon that cultural studies and cultural criticism have established for the concept of text in the world.
