Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between leadership and innovation in educational projects by developing and testing a conceptual model that explains the mechanisms underlying this relationship, with a particular focus on the mediating role of psychological empowerment and the moderating role of project complexity. The study is based on a set of key hypotheses, including the existence of a statistically significant positive relationship between leadership and innovation in educational projects, the mediating role of psychological empowerment in this relationship, the moderating effect of project complexity on the strength of the relationship between leadership and innovation, and variations in the indirect effect of leadership on innovation through psychological empowerment across different levels of project complexity. The study adopts a quantitative approach using a descriptive-analytical design, employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test mediation relationships and analyze the moderating role of project complexity, thereby enabling a systematic examination of the direct and indirect relationships among the model variables. The significance of the study lies in providing an explanatory framework that links leadership practices, psychological empowerment, and innovation within the context of educational projects, while accounting for varying levels of project complexity. The study recommends strengthening leadership practices that support psychological empowerment and developing leadership preparation and training programs that take into account the nature and varying levels of complexity of educational projects, thereby contributing to fostering an innovation-oriented environment and improving the quality of educational outcomes.
