Abstract

DNA fingerprinting is considered one of the most important modern scientific techniques that has significantly contributed to the development of criminal evidence. Owing to its high degree of accuracy in identifying individuals and detecting offenders, it has become a reliable tool in criminal investigations. This research aims to clarify the concept and characteristics of DNA fingerprinting, analyze its role in criminal proof, and examine its legal evidentiary value in criminal proceedings. The study also addresses the legal safeguards that must be observed during the collection and analysis of genetic samples, as well as the challenges associated with their use in the criminal field. The research concludes that DNA fingerprinting is among the strongest scientific forms of evidence in criminal justice; however, its effectiveness depends on compliance with legal and technical procedures that ensure the protection of individual rights and freedoms while achieving criminal justice.
